Anchoring

A refractory lining must be equipped with special anchors to prevent the castable from cracking. The proper anchoring of the lining is thus crucial to the service lift of the refractory material.

Generally there are two types of anchor: metal and ceramic anchors. Yet the focus here will be on the more widely-used metal anchors.As the arrangement of the anchoring system depends on the dimensions and location of each specific refractory lining, no general rules can be advised to fit all uses.
